Why Sign?
Signing the Covenant is not about agreeing with a doctrine. It is a personal choice: a statement that you are willing to bring ecological integrity to the decisions that are yours to make, in the life that is yours to live.
The Covenant does not tell you what to do. It gives you a way to ask better questions, and connects you to others around the world asking the same ones.

The Ecority Pledge
Rather than only insisting that we are born with rights, we choose to believe we are also born with obligations: to serve, protect and care for past, present and future generations, and for the living Earth herself.
Our core ethical frame
Three questions to hold up against any decision.
- Is this good for the children? For future generations, and for the young who are here now.
- Is this good for the Earth's web of life? For our fellow creatures and the natural world around us.
- Is this good for each other? Fair to those directly involved, and at the very least harmless to everyone else affected.
What it means to be human
- Caritas: compassion and empathy for all living beings.
- Biophilia: a deep love of humanity, nature and all forms of life.
- Respect: for the worth of nature, ecosystems and cultural diversity.
- Custodianship: caring for the environment on behalf of future generations.
- Service: contributing to the wellbeing of human communities and the natural world.
- Gratitude: for the beauty, variety and abundance of the natural world.
- Harmony: living in balance with all beings, doing as little harm as possible.
